Shimer is a place to develop breadth and depth of knowledge in the humanities, natural sciences, social sciences, and integrative studies and to learn skills like critical thinking, reasoned analysis, and outstanding oral and written communication.
It’s that rare place where everyone’s views are valued and respect for difference is the rule, not the exception.
By taking 85 credits of core courses and 40 credits of electives over four years and writing a Senior Thesis, you can earn a Bachelor of Arts degree with a concentration in Humanities, Social Sciences or Natural Sciences.
