TEACHING FELLOWS PROGRAM
Admission Criteria

The following standards and measures will be considered for admitting applicants into the Teaching Fellows Program:

 

1)      Applicants must be teachers or have taught in a state-recognized school.      Applicants who have not taught may be admitted as students-at-large.

2)      A baccalaureate or more advanced degree is a threshold eligibility requirement.

3)      A grade point average of B (3.0) or better from a previous post-secondary, accredited institution.

4)      A writing sample which must demonstrate at least college-level mastery of written Standard English.

5)      Scores on GRE, Praxis, LSAT, and other standardized tests will be considered.

6)      Two letters of recommendation, at least one of which must be from a credentialed teacher or former teacher; or, from a teacher or principal who has supervised the applicant’s teaching.

7)      Assessment by TFP faculty of the applicant’s ability to benefit from the program.

8)      Other evidence – such as awards, distinctions and publications – of the applicant’s ability will be considered.

 

Transfer credits will be evaluated

and awarded as follows:

 

1)      A maximum total of 18 credits transferred and/or placement credits may be applied toward the Masters degree.  A maximum total of 6 transferred and/or placement credits may be applied toward the Certificate of Completion.

2)      In order to be eligible for transfer status, courses must have been taken at an accredited institution.

3)      Transfer credit course content must correspond to Teaching Fellows Program courses in the judgment of Program faculty.

4)      Transfer credit will be awarded for grades of B (3.0) or higher in previously taken graduate-level courses.

 

Enrollment is limited to 15 students per class
