Questions about paying for Shimer? Just ask!
Please feel free to contact us at any time if you need help, explanations, forms, or any information about financial aid and Shimer College. You may contact the Office of Admission or the Financial Aid Director, Janet Henthorn. We want to be sure that nothing about your financial aid is left unclear to you.
If you need financial aid, we expect you to apply for and accept all the Federal and State government grants, loans, and employment scholarships for which you are eligible. You may also qualify for aid directly from Shimer.
The first step for both government aid and Shimer aid is submitting your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). No separate form is necessary to be considered for Shimer aid, but special scholarships like the Montaigne Scholarship and the Dangerous Optimist Scholarship may have other requirements, so check out the Grants & Scholarships page for more details. Both financial need and academic merit are taken into consideration in awarding Shimer College aid.
