Student Employment at Shimer College

Luckily Shimer College don’t have any sports teams who need their laundry done. Instead, our work study students help to do the real work of running the college.

The Federal Work-Study Program provides jobs for students who show financial need and who must earn part of their funds for educational expenses.

This is a federal program administered by the school’s financial aid office. The student must be enrolled at least half-time. In general, a student earns at least the current minimum wage.

Students can work up to 10 hours a week, hours maybe reduced by availability of funds. Continued employment depends upon satisfactory work performance, early application and satisfactory academic progress.
