| Rapid Transit CTA Red Line exit at the south end of the platform, go east (left) to State St then turn left again, going north. Walk approximately 1 block to the 3424 State Street entrance and turn left again. Once you arrive in the revolving door, there is a security guard that can direct you toward the Shimer Admission Office. CTA Green Line CTA Green Line (Ashland-63rd or 63rd-Cottage Grove) to 35th-Bronzeville-IIT station - exit station and cross State Street going west. Walk south to 3424 S. State and, once inside the revolving door, the security guard can point the way to our 1st floor suite. By Auto From North and South From O’hare Airport and North to South. There is a major, long-term construction project underway on the Dan Ryan intestate (I 90/94), so there may be some delays. From the airport, follow signs toward the Chicago Loop that will merge you onto I-190 E. I-190 will become I-90 (and eventually I-90/94). Take EXIT 54 toward 31st Street. Continue straight ahead to go on to S. Wentworth Avenue. Turn left onto 31st Street. Turn right onto State Street. You will be heading in a southerly direction toward 3424 S. State St. When you reach 34th Street, there is a place to turn left into a pay-by-the-hour parking lot which is directly across the street from Shimer. (It’s only $1/hr.) Pull in here and proceed across the street to the 3424 building entrance (Shimer is listed on the signage out front). You may also take Lake Shore Drive going south and exit at 31st Street. Go west (away from the lake) until State Street. Turn south (left). You are now on the IIT Campus. Park in one of the lots behind State Street Village, which is the series of dorms along the east side of State Street. These lots are named D1 and D2. As you will be near the Green Line Train station, which runs along State Street, follow the above directions to find Shimer. Cross State Street going west. Walk south to 3424 S. State and, once inside, follow the signs and arrows in the hallway right and on around to the 1st floor Admission Suite. By Air Public transportation is available from O'Hare and Midway airports, and limousine or taxi will take you from all airports to IIT's campus.
