Peter Cooley writes:
My ninth book of poetry Night Bus to the Afterlife has just been released by Carnegie Mellon University Press and can be purchased from Amazon. The book deals with Katrina and the effects of Katrina in New Orleans but also with the transience of all human life and the spiritual nature of life– matters of which disaster makes us inevitably aware.
I have just been made Senior Mellon Professor in the Humanities at Tulane, where I continue to be Professor of English and Director of Creative Writing.
We read the ringing endorsements, too. Congratulations, Peter!
“Peter Cooley’s poetry endures, with wrought lyricism and robust imagination. This new collection brilliantly underscores the spiritual dimension of his vision, buoyed by an imagistic certainty; the poems turn on grace notes that are musical and natural, tinged by the Crescent City.” —Yusef Komunyakaa
