| April 21, 2005 Christmas In April: ShimerCollege Performs Shakespeare's Twelfth Night Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night (or What You Will) will be performed in the Shimer College Gymnasium on April 21-23 and 28-30 at 8 pm. The play is a rollicking comedy that draws upon the traditions surrounding the celebration of Epiphany. Twelfth Night is an 'upside-down' comedy in which girls dress as boys, adults are more childish than youngsters, and a fool is the wisest person on stage. Tinged with nostalgia for the Merry Olde England disappearing under the frowning gaze of Puritanism, Shakespeare’s wonderful romantic comedy seems as relevant today as it did in its own time. Admission to the play is $5.00; $3.00 for seniors and students; free to the Shimer Community. |
