Shimer College Commencement Set for May 6

Fourteen students - the first to be graduated from Shimer's new Chicago campus - will receive diplomas at ceremonies scheduled for May 6 at 2 p.m. in Hermann Hall, 3241 South Federal Street in Chicago.

Ronne Hartfield, former Director of Education for the Art Institute of Chicago, will deliver the keynote address. Ms. Hartfield is an international museum consultant who works extensively with museums, foundations, and governmental agencies to facilitate new avenues of collaboration around issues of religious meaning embedded in the visual arts and performance.

Hartfield is also author of the 2004 book, “Another Way Home: The Tangled Roots of Race in One Chicago Family” (University of Chicago Press) October 2004, a memoir about her mother, a black woman who passed for white.
