THREE NEW FACULTY MEMBERS
June 1, 2011
Shimer College is pleased to announce that Daniela Barberis, Aron Dunlap, and Adam Kotsko have agreed to join the Shimer faculty.
Daniela Barberis received her Ph.D. from the Committee on Conceptual and Historical Studies of Science at the University of Chicago. She has taught at several colleges and universities, and is conversant in the Natural and Social Sciences.
Aron Dunlap, who also holds a Ph.D. degree, has been serving as Assistant Professor in the Department of Intellectual Heritage, a Great Books-style program at Temple University in Philadelphia. He will be teaching in the Humanities and the Social Sciences.
Adam Kotsko received his Ph.D. from Chicago Theological Seminary two years ago. He most recently taught at Kalamazoo College and is the author of several books and articles. His background is in the Humanities and Social Sciences.
Daniela, Aron, and Adam were selected from among more than 80 candidates for faculty positions following an exhaustive national search. Their presence at Shimer will be most welcome.
"The student body at Shimer is growing at a tremendous rate," observes David Shiner, Dean of the College. "We needed to bring in qualified faculty members who can hit the ground running and are likely to be with us for a long time. We're confident that these three candidates fill the bill, and we're excited to have them join the Shimer faculty."
Daniela, Aron, and Adam are getting familiar with Shimer over the summer in preparation for taking on their teaching duties in the fall.
