| October 26, 2004 Shimer College Theatre Performs 'The Glass Menagerie' by Tennessee Williams The Glass Menagerie, Tennessee Williams’ most remembered play and first commercial success, has become an American classic. In this lyrical “memory play,” the narrator, Tom, reflects back on his struggle to fulfill his responsibilities to his mother Amanda (once a Southern belle now fallen on hard times) and his sister Laura (a fragile, shy woman who retreats to an imaginary world of glass figurines). The family’s tensions strain to the breaking point with anticipation of a “gentleman caller” for Laura. The play will be performed on Thursday through Saturday, Nov 11-13 and 18-20 at 8:00 pm in the Shimer College Gymnasium. General Admission is $5.00, $3.00 for Seniors and Students. |
