The Office of Communications endeavors to support Shimer’s mission and vision, and to protect, manage, and enhance the College’s reputation and brand.
The governing principle of the Shimer Office of Communications is that marketing should be like good poetry: poignant, painstakingly crafted, and willing to rock the boat. We believe that the operating principle of communication depends on the possibility of the message becoming warped somewhere between sender and receiver (think of the telephone game), which makes communication both inherently inventive and subject to meticulous, not to say endless, revision.
