Shimer Site Map and Content Recommendations

We decided to present our IA and content recommendations fully implemented in your instance of LiveWhale. For now, we’re using a generic template. Once all Shimer page designs are finalized and approved, they’ll be available as templates in the CMS, where you can apply the appropriate design to each page. In essence, we’re getting a head start on constructing the new shimer.edu—sans the actual content of course.

Use the links above to get started.  As you click through the site structure, you’ll find a link at the top of most pages, referencing the corresponding page on the current site. Use existing content as starter material; our recommendations should help you reshape and develop it into the final text and dynamic content for each page.

If we suggest a NEW page, we identify it as such and provide content recommendations for it. If we think the page content is generally fine, we indicate that as well. IA Recommendations refer to changes in site structure.

Nicknamed The Artifact Hunter, Eugene is a native of southern Illinois who has has been finding and collecting Indian artifacts since he was a child. Today, his collection includes several thousand pieces. Eugene's knowledge about archaeology comes from sharing his finds with archaeologists from various universities and contract archaeologists working in the

Downstate region, as well as his friend, Native American and archaeology consultant Leo Thompson (Iron Bear Wolf).

His nickname, The Artifact Hunter, came during a meeting of deer hunters who were drawing straws for deer stands on a friend's farm. The friend said to the deer hunters, "This is Gene Baldwin; you'll see him in the creek hunting for arrowheads. Don't shoot the artifact hunter." Gene has yet to be shot.
